Hi Everyone,
Since Gaz will be working on organizing the member payments, I was hoping to send out an email to our blog contributors to let them know where we stand and also to get them to start getting posts together, so we can be ahead of the game.
Let me know if everyone's okay with this....
I think I have everyone's outside etsy email except Shelley's.

I contacted Kate yesterday regarding a VAM thread for posting tentative blog posts by members with topics & corresponding readiness dates. This is her reply: Hi Gaz, I do have something like this already set up in a Google doc. I had only sent it to those who specifically said they would help with the blog. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1v0T6Faqx3GewrUIYuLNwjCp2baqep42KZOCsEftaflQ/edit#gid=0 You can share with the whole team if you like. If you do, can you make sure to note that they should just fill in the bottom section. The top is for me to record posts that are actually submitted. I do want to let you know I'm sorry I haven't been as active as I've been in the past. Pamela disappeared for a while and isn't helping me with the blog at the moment. She also wasn't able to help much with the set-up either. This year has been a little rough for me personally. Between trying to constantly update my shops and trying to actually take days off from "work" I haven't had as much time as I would like with the blog. Each little change takes me a long time to figure out. Plus a few contributors that said they would have posts haven't sent me a thing yet Erika however has been a god-send with one fantastic post after another! Submissions are coming in, but not at a steady rate. Anyway, just wanted to get this all out there! I do like working on this project and hope we can really take it to the next level eventually. _______________________________________________ I think rather than messing up Kate's doc & system we could have a thread with her doc link. She could set the doc to view only, so everyone could have a better idea of where we are with the blog. Having an open discussion thread would help keep the blog in the forefront, not behind the scenes where everyone think others are solely responsible for it. This is EVERYONE"S Blog. Kate has done a tremendous amount of work setting this up and with little help from Pamela by the sounds of it. I feel she deserves great support. Also posting into a thread, where the rest of us can see it, may be enough of a commitment that we see blog write ups actually finished and submitted. Also, not recalling what's up with Pamela, but is she not anyway on a trip right now?

I'll post this here as well in the VAM Budget thread Blog Costs for 2016 Hosting - Renewal date: 3/13/16 - Cost: 107.40 (for the year)($8.95/month) Domain Name - Renewal date: 2/2/16 - Cost: 14.99 (for the year) Total Cost: 122.39 Per Member (assuming 60 members): 2.04 (for the entire year)
Also Kate has to move again. She is a busy person and does her best to keep the blog going and up to date with all the info there. I really would like to see a 2nd person in there, learn the ropes, be able to do some promo posts, etc. Pamela was in there but quickly faded out for whatever reason. So Kate's on her own. Is there a leader in this group that is Blog savy and could at least help in posting some regular VAM promo collages?

I thought we decided that just photo collages were basically a waste of time on a blog? As I said, I'm happy to learn how to post on the blog and maybe I can do some sort of weekly post that coincides with the calendar to spotlight relevant merchandise.

me too I also got a further convo from Kate: I also haven't had the best luck getting people to submit posts for the blog.... When I email the group almost no one responds Not sure what can be done about that..I know we're all busy... Just wanted to let you know. ***** We need to light a fire on this again and inspire our writers. What if we asked for some blog articles related to our weekly themes? They don't have to feature VAM items, but could include a link back to that themed related curated list. So having the calendar filled in ahead as far as possible could help inspire some blog posts.

I would be interested in writing for the blog, esp. if we can tie it to the calendar, which means I would have plenty of lead time. However, I'm a little gun shy ATM b/c I volunteered to write about vintage recipes for Heidi's blog, submitted the post to her (she did say she'd be looking for it when I told her it was ready), followed up 3 times and no response. So I don't know if what I did just didn't fit her format, was too long, or what happened. Gaz, I can email you what I did and you can tell me if that sort of article would fit for VAM. If the answer is no, you won't hurt my feelings

Betty, I'd say yes! A blog post on vintage recipes could link back to our In The Kitchen list. If we pick a week to promo vintage kitchen finds & tie in a related blog post, I think that could work. But yes, send me what you have

Well that's fairly rude, imo. But please don't be gun shy about the team blog. It would be great if you contribute when/where you can. And having the calendar for people to choose from is nice. As Betty said it will give people plenty of time to prepare.
This is what all happens with most blogs, whether they be team or individual. It's just really hard to keep up the pace and to have continuous submissions. I simply don't do anything interesting and blog worthy - I have no idea what I'd write about.

Well, perhaps having no idea what to write about is part of the problem. A little directional inspiration via the themed promos and a planning calendar could spark some motivation.
